discussion
overall toadys discussion went real well. It went this well because on friday we were completely lost and didnt know how to hold a discussion. Now that we had a picture on not what to do we wer able to hold a good discussion with goo questions. We discuused aboutt how the sword fish got stuck on the submarine. We comprehended on if it ws a good idea for the saliors to eat the fish instead of saving it. Four of us including me said that it was a good idea because either way the fish was going to die. The other two diagreed because they thought that they should of let the fish go and let it be handled by nature on its outcome.
Well first of all I think that my group including myself could have done better,although it wasnt that bad for our first time. One thing for sure, was that everybody said at least one question. It went pretty smooth, but in some questions we had to glanze at the reading for more understanding. We also got of topic some dew times, but we would get back on track. I liked how Robert started it out, because he asked a good intro question making it funny. Which made us grave the attention and answer back. Thats when i decided to ask the next one, and asked who wanted to go next. We asked questions like what did you think of..., what would you have done... and what when through your mind when.. It sure was hard not asking basic comprehension questions, but with the help in having groups we were hable to help each other. Im pretty sure that for the next discussion we will do better.
On October 28 we had a discussion about the chapter”October” of the book the “the year of the whale”. One of the questions was ¿do you think it is go to hunt whales?. We all agree that whale are to be set free and scientist can only but only catch whales for studding them for any disease or other health problems a whale can have. Another of the questions was ¿how much time it takes a calf to separate from their mothers?. We all said that about a year but in reality it takes about two years one year and a half takes the mother to finish feeding the little calf and the other half of year it takes the little calf to get use to the ocean. The last question we discuss as a group was ¿if it is fair for a calf to be left on the big risky ocean?. We all agree that it is very risky for the mothers and their babies to be left on the big ocean because other predators can danger or even kill them. All our questions where very interesting to discuss because marine mammals are suppose to be free and not heard them because they have feelings and they are not dangerous if you do not do nothing to them.
In the discussion we had in class october 28 with are groups we talk about how would technology affect whales, is it okay to hunt whales, and if you would go to a international institude of whales to see how they get tested. First I thought that technology didnt affect the whales,butthen one member of my group made me see that it does affect whales because their being put in things in their body that may damage them from the inside.Then about the hunting of whales if it was okay to do that. I think that hunting them to resarch them is okay to see if they are not sick of a diseas that could contamidate the ocean.If there are just being killed for no reason then that doesnt make it okay, thats just being cruel to the whales. Also I wouldnt like to go to a institude of whales because eventhough there going to open them for something importin I wouldnt like to see that i would just feel bad looking at that. So the discussion went pretty well but next time its going to go much better because now we have an idea what to do in a discussion.
I believe my group and I had an overall interesting discussion. First we talked about wether or not it was correct for the fisherman to eat the swordfish. We came up with a final decision that it was inevitable for the fisherman; they did try to unstuck the swordfish out of the ship. The fisherman did what they had to, and since they could not unstuck it, they decided to eat the swordfish. After that, our group talked about the comment that Ms. Belanger made; we discussed on who would have a tragic event in the next chapter. We decided that the author would die since the main character cannot die in the story, well not just yet. I liked how out group discussed the issue; we all worked together and everyone had a different contribution to the group. Overall we did pretty good :p
