I personally think it is kind of wierd that we are learning about science in an English class. We will not only be doing this due to the fact that we are a speacial class, but because it is possible to talk about any subject in an english class. English ends up being used in every single subject. Everything connects with english. I believe that as an honors class we have the ability to handle multiple tasks and or subjects. It will not only be a great opportunity but also will feed us a little knowledge about science. This will definitley be great experience in my opinion. It may bring out interest in those who probably think they do not like science (like me). Im excited, I cant wait to get started. Also, cant wait to start debating with the other class!
In my opinion, English and Science are two fundamental subjects that allow you to interact each other. Both English and Science provide different qualities that we can build or knowledge and work both subjects together. English in one hand can help us define the long scientific words that might scare us, when really we are just underestimating or own knowledge. Also, Science can help us put at use our knowledge skills of English, such as communication, allowing us to interact with others in our experiments. In order to test our mental capacities we must to combine different subjects into one class to learn diverse things. From a different point of view, we use the technology granted to us in science Technology is a big part of this experiment because we will be interacting with technology, English,U.S. Government and other subjects to see what we can learn and build with each other. Over all, I believe that this experiment is a great thing, and I'm really happy to be a part of it. =]
I think that the reason that we are learnig about Science in english is because of the fact that were are a marine biology class mixed with english. I think that it is cool that we are learning about Science in English because were are going to be part of the cyberbridge program and do a project about it. In the cyberbridge project we are gonna learn about whales and other creatures in the ocean and the types of souds that they make. Some of the english skills that ive used in english that will help me for science is vocabulary, notetaking and reading skills so I'll be able to understand the concept better. We are also learning science in english because during the school year we are going to be learning more about bioacustics and having debates about it in class against other students.Our english skills will help us more when we are debating with other classes. Having to learn science in english will be fun and cool and really interesting.
I think that we're learning about science in English is because english can help us understand words that we don't usually understand and we use skills like context clues to help us understand words. Also listening skills are needed to be able to pay attention and understand what they're talking to you about. Note taking skills also help us in science since we'll need to understand what exactly we'll need to take notes on and what is important. Also whenever we need to write an essay for like a report on a subject we'll need to apply our English skills. Vocabulary is important to make reports sound formal and professional.
