Also listening skills are needed to be able to pay attention and understand what they're talking to you about. Note taking skills also help us in science since we'll need to understand what exactly we'll need to take notes on and what is important. Also whenever we need to write an essay for like a report on a subject we'll need to apply our English skills. Vocabulary is important to make reports sound formal and professional. I think that it is cool that we are learning about Science in English because were are going to be part of the cyberbridge program and do a project about it. In the cyberbridge project we are gonna learn about whales and other creatures in the ocean and the types of souds that they make. Some of the english skills that ive used in english that will help me for science is vocabulary, notetaking and reading skills so I'll be able to understand the concept better. Both English and Science provide different qualities that we can build or knowledge and work both subjects together. English in one hand can help us define the long scientific words that might scare us, when really we are just underestimating or own knowledge. Also, Science can help us put at use our knowledge skills of English, such as communication, allowing us to interact with others in our experiments. In order to test our mental capacities we must to combine different subjects into one class to learn diverse things. We will not only be doing this due to the fact that we are a speacial class, but because it is possible to talk about any subject in an english class. English ends up being used in every single subject. Everything connects with english. I believe that as an honors class we have the ability to handle multiple tasks and or subjects. English skills needs to be used more often to better understand other subjects in life. Furthermore were learning about science in english because we want to pilot a new program. Using science in English helps a lot because we can use the scientific method and apply it to english skills to figure out problems. The English skills I've used in my science class is definitely test taking skills for sure, and note taking, cornell notes, as we like to call them. The way i use my test taking skills is i read the multiple choice answers first then use context clues to help me find the answer after i have read the passage. The note taking skills come into affect when i need to be organized which is always. The reason we are learning Science in our English class is because we are in a Biobridge program. The biobrige program, is a program of UCSD. While we are researching, and learning about the bioacoustics of whales and dolphins, we will also be learning english at the same time. First of all in english, we learn how to read, write, think critically,take notes, and analyze. I have used all of these skills in my science classes. In science, I have written research papers and science projects. In order to do this, I had to read loads of information and analyze the main points. Of these main points I wrote many notes useful in my research. Critical thinking is the main part of science. A scientist must think carefully and really analyze every step they make.
